Cranfield Airport Fire Service

Watch Manager

£33,000 per annum Ref: 2189 (potential to earn up to £36,350 per annum)

40 hours per week

 

This is an excellent opportunity to develop and enhance your career in a pivotal management role. You will lead and manage the Fire Fighters within the Airport Fire Service (AFS) on site, organising the day-to-day operation including overall responsibility for training records, testing equipment, fire drills, fitness activities and planned programme of evacuation drills across the site. You will have acquired well-honed leadership skills to create and maintain the motivation amongst your team especially in life threatening situations.

 

Be proactive in leading them to maintain standards and instil a sense of continuous improvement within a well-regulated activity covered by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) regulations. The ability to persuade and influence the Fire Fighters to take on all activities, no matter how routine to meet the needs of the business, is essential.

 

You will be an integral part of the management team in setting and agreeing the strategies in relation to operation of the service and its future development. The planning and organisation of the day-to-day operation and developing relationships will be your prime responsibility along with the ability to manage major incidents in a calm professional manner.

 

Most of all you will be a resilient individual able to cope with the pressures and demands of this key management role, able to adapt your approach to different people and cope with demanding crisis situations as they arise.

The Securitas (UK) Fire and Safety Services - Emergency Fire Crews

 

Securitas operate an Emergency Fire Crew capability to provide fire crew service that mobilise in the event of a catastrophic incident, pandemic disease outbreak, industrial action, or, any event that could reduce the normal fire service capability.

 

Under the Civil Contingency Act there is a legal duty placed upon the relevant Fire Authority to provide emergency cover in the event that the normal Fire Service arrangements are either disrupted or diminished. Emergency Fire Crews attend fire and rescue based incidents, these incidents range from domestic, commercial and industrial fires to road traffic collisions. The role of the emergency fire crew is unique, challenging and rewarding. In attached information pack is the first step of the recruitment process which forms part of an overall assessment of the candidate and could lead to a residential fire training course.
